The “GWO First Aid” module and the national qualification “Workplace First Responder” (DGUV) serve as the fundamental first aid training for employees. A workplace first responder is an individual without formal medical training who provides first aid in the event of a workplace accident until professional emergency services take over. The goal is to mitigate acute health and life-threatening situations. This basic qualification allows participants to pursue advanced courses, such as “GWO Enhanced First Aid” and “DGUV First Responder Wind Energy”.
Important Information About the Training
With the update of the GWO standard on April 1, 2022, the duration of the “GWO First Aid” basic module was aligned with the training time required by the DGUV for workplace first responders (9 instructional units). However, the duration of the “GWO First Aid Refresher” module was reduced to four hours without prior coordination with the relevant German authorities.
Since this reduction does not comply with DGUV’s requirements, we do not implement the shortened duration specified by GWO. Instead, we adhere to the DGUV’s prescribed duration and content when conducting the “GWO First Aid”, “GWO First Aid Refresher”, and DGUV Workplace First Responder training.
Upon successful completion, participants receive separate certificates in accordance with GWO and DGUV and—if all relevant conditions are met—a WINDA database upload.

If a participant attends a training up to two months before the original expiration date, the new validity period will be extended by two years from the original expiration date.
Example:
Your current certificate is valid until March 16, 2022. However, if you complete a training session on February 27, 2022, the new certificate validity will be extended to February 27, 2024 via WINDA upload.
