The Fire Safety & Fire Extinguisher Training is a practical program designed to provide participants with the vital skills needed to prevent workplace fires and respond effectively during the “incipient” (early) stage of a fire. This course focuses on the “Fight or Flight” decision-making process and ensures that if a fire is small enough to tackle, you have the confidence and technique to do so safely.

What You Will Learn

  • The Fire Tetrahedron: Understanding the four elements required for a fire to exist (Heat, Fuel, Oxygen, and Chemical Reaction) and how to remove them.

  • Classes of Fire: Learning to distinguish between Class A (solids), B (liquids), C (gases), D (metals), and F (cooking oils), as well as Electrical fires.

  • Extinguisher Identification: Identifying different types of extinguishers (Water, Foam, Dry Powder, CO2, and Wet Chemical) by their color codes and labels.

  • The PASS Technique: Practical mastery of the standard operating method: Pull the pin, Aim at the base, Squeeze the lever, and Sweep side-to-side.

  • Emergency Decision Making: Assessing fire size, visibility, and escape routes to decide whether it is safe to fight the fire or necessary to evacuate.

  • Fire Blankets: Learning the correct technique for using fire blankets on small fires or to protect a person whose clothing is alight.

Key Benefits

  • Immediate Action: Empowers employees to stop small fires before they become life-threatening disasters.

  • Property Protection: Minimizes damage to assets and infrastructure through rapid, correct response.

  • Personal Safety: Ensures staff can recognize when a fire is too dangerous to fight, preventing injuries and fatalities.
